A wonderful group scene of very curious ewes at Dugort beach on Achill Island in county Mayo. The Blackface Mountain sheep are synonymous with Achill Island and west Mayo. Anyone who has ever been to Achill will know how they roam freely without any regard, its almost like we are invading their space! This picture captures the essence of their free spirit on the beautiful setting of Dugort beach with Slievemore mountain defending into the Atlantic providing a spectacular backdrop and contrast to the curious bunch of ewes in the foreground.
I have painted this on a long canvas of 36’x12′ in order to allow the eye to run freely from one end of the group to the other without the spectacular scenery taking your focus from the sheep. I have painted around the sides of the deep canvas, so the scene is not interrupted and allowing you to hang it as is. It is framed on a white floating frame.
